The Eighth Harry Potter

Hi everyone! This week I would like to discuss the rumor of an eighth Harry Potter book. I can confirm that the rumors are true. Just this morning I found out and I'm still in shock. We still don't know what it's about or if it's a prequel or sequel but either way I know that it will be amazing. Here is a link to a website that confirms the rumor. The Wise and the Dumbledore

Hi everyone! Sorry for posting late, I was away. This week I would like to write about how wise Dumbledore was. Dumbledore was the most powerful wizard because of his knowledge and wisdom. He always gave Harry and the rest of the students at Hogwarts advice and motivational sayings. I believe that if anyone had the secrets of the world, it would be Dumbledore. Harry Birthday!

  Hi everyone! The 31st of July is a very special day for all of us. Harry's birthday!! On Harry's 11th birthday Hagrid came to take him away from the Dursleys. Hagrid had a cake for Harry which Dudley then ate. On Harry's 17 birthday, he got to celebrate with his friends and (sort of) family. Mrs. Weasley made a snitch cake to celebrate because Harry loved quidditch so much. I am pretty sure that Haryy Potter was born in 1980 and (SPOILER ALERT) (kinda) died in 1997. Happy (late) birthday Harry!!!!

Why the Weasleys?

Hi everyone! Have you ever noticed that unfortunate things happened to the Weasley family? In the second book, Ginny was drawn into Tom Riddle's diary and was nearly killed. In the fifth movie, Mr. Weasley was nearly killed at the Ministry of Magic. In the middle of the series, JK Rowling was thinking about killing Ron but decided not to (thankfully). In the seventh book, Bill became a werewolf and George lost his ear. Also in the seventh book, Fred was murdered in the battle for Hogwarts. The only Weasleys that nothing happened to were Percy, Mrs. Weasley, and Charlie that I'm aware of. A lot of the time I end up feeling sorry for the Weasley family.

In Love With a Lovegood

This week I would like to talk about the love of Neville's life, Luna. In the books Neville had no love for anyone but his friends and grandmother. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Neville confesses that he loves Luna. Since Neville only has his grandmother and Luna only has her father so it seems like they understand one another's problems. I wonder if they were in love in the seventh book if they would have kids. Are you for or against Neville and Luna's love? I know I am for it! Please put your answer in the comments. 

Potterlicious Ginger Cookies

Hi everyone! This week I want to share a Potterlicious recipe; ginger cookies. On the Fourth of July I made these cookies for a contest but sadly lost. Both of the winners probably used magic to cheat. Anyway, I don't like ginger at all but these cookies are like sugar cookies with a hint of ginger. I got this recipe from The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook. The recipe was originally called 'Chewy Ginger Biscuits'. In the fifth book, Harry loses his temper with Umbridge so she sent him to McGonagall to be punished. Instead McGonagall gives Harry a ginger biscuit shaped like a newt.

The Potion, I mean Recipe: (wands at the ready)

3 cups flour (we needed  a lot more..)

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 tbsp ground ginger

2 sticks butter, room temperature

1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 large egg white

3/4 cup golden syrup or light corn syrup

1/2 cup sugar for rolling cookies

Special Equipment: An Outstanding or at least Exceeds Expectations on one's O.W.L.s 

Pre heat oven to 375 degrees. Place racks to the upper and lower middle positions (or just use two ovens, like I do). Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and ginger. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and the sugars with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (but not like the three-headed dog Fluffy), scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary, about 5 minutes. Add the egg, the egg white, and syrup and beat until combined. Scrape the bottom with a rubber spatula to make sure it is fully combined. Scoop out the balls of dough with a cookie scoop or tablespoon. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place the balls 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes, rotating the pans and switching shelves halfway through the baking. Slide the parchment paper onto wire racks to cool;do not remove the cookies individually until they cool.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen. Serve with butter beer or pumpkin juice.

Dobby: A Free Elf

Hi everyone! Sorry for posting late, I had some Internet troubles. This week I would like to discuss the character Dobby. In the second book, Dobby gets Harry in trouble and in his attempts to stop him from going to Hogwarts nearly kills him. At the end of the book Dobby becomes a free elf when Harry gives the diary to Mr. Malfoy (which contains his sock) who then gives it to Dobby. In the seventh book Dobby comes to the rescue when Ollivander, Luna, Griphook, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are prisoners in Malfoy Manor. As Dobby begins to Apperate Bellatrix Lestrange's knife goes inside of the portal and when they are safe at Shell Cottage Harry finds Dobby dying because of Bellatrix's knife in his body. At least Dobby died as a free elf to save Harry Potter.

Magic is Might

Hi everyone! I made a typo in my first post. I meant to say that every two weeks I would post. This week I would like to discuss the topic of the Ministry of Magic. Throughout the series the trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione break into the Ministry several times. The most memorable break in is in the seventh book when our heroes use polyjuice potion to disguise as Ministry employees. We all know how that turned out. The good thing is that Harry, Ron, and Hermione managed to snatch the Horcrux locket from Umbridge. I guess our heroes have done that sort of thing a lot throughout the years. As the statue at the Ministry states 'Magic is Might'.

First Flight

Hello everyone! I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan which is why I created this blog. As you probably know (SPOILER ALERT) our fine feathered friend, Hedwig, was killed in the seventh Harry Potter book. I personally think that Hedwig shouldn't have died at all, but to honor her fictional memory I named this blog after her. If you love Harry as much as I do then you understand the pain of Hedwig's death. Throughout my posts I will post Potter-ific links, photos, and videos. I will vow the Unbreakable Vow to promise I bring followers like you Potter updates and hints every Saturday.
